A Taste of Colorado Celebrates its 25th Birthday with a Party and Free Cake
A Taste of Colorado turns 25 this year and is celebrating with birthday cake, singing, and fun.  Children who are marking a birthday over Labor Day weekend are invited to come celebrate with Taste in the KidZone on Saturday, Aug. 30, at noon.  Sponsored by Party City, the festivities will take place in the KidzCrafts tent.  Eric West, of Music for Kids, will lead a round of “Happy Birthday.” Festive decorations and colorful balloons will be provided by Party City. A huge birthday cake will be created by Wilton Enterprises, the leading cake decorating and bakeware company in the country. In addition to serving cake, Wilton will be conducting a one-hour cupcake-decorating demonstration.

FEED YOUR MIND
Families can journey back to the roots of A Taste of Colorado and have fun learning about the state’s pioneer past, nature, and environment. In the Festival of Mountain and Plain area, featured artisans will demonstrate Navajo weaving and culture, spinning, rug braiding, lace crocheting, papermaking, and quilting, along with the popular blacksmith demonstration.

Free gold panning and information on Colorado’s mineral and energy production (and conservation) is available at the Colorado Mining Foundation tent. Free educational materials are available for teachers, librarians, home-schooled students, scouts, and more!

BIRDS OF PREY VISIT DOWNTOWN DENVER
Throughout the weekend the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program (RMRP) will have live raptors on display and conduct educational presentations designed to promote the value of raptors and the environment and teach ways in which the public can become involved.  

PARTY CITY PARTIES ON AT TASTE
With ten huge stores in Denver, Party City is bringing a whole city of fun to the KidzStage! Get a sneak peek at some of this year’s hottest Halloween costumes, meet your favorite children’s characters and learn how Party City can help you make any celebration extra-special.

JOIN THE GREEN TEAM
In 2007, A Taste of Colorado began a behind-the-scenes recycling program and recycled 12.28 tons of cardboard and glass bottles. This year, we’re taking it a step further and asking for YOUR help to “green” our Festival. Recycling containers will be placed throughout the grounds to collect plastic bottles and other recyclable goods. In addition, all restaurants will be using more earth-friendly products to serve your favorite eats. Want to learn more about recycling at home and at the office?
